What’s New: More Flexibility and Control in L3–L5 DDoS Protection

In August, we updated StormWall for Networks and StormWall for Servers. One of the key enhancements is a brand-new tool that simplifies traffic filtering management and detection rule monitoring.

What’s New: More Flexibility and Control in L3–L5 DDoS Protection

You can try the new functionality in the Client Portal:
My Services → Object → Protection → Protection activation.

With this new tool, you now have more ways to fine-tune the protection of your network traffic. In particular, you get:

1. Centralized Control of All IP Prefixes

You can now view all IP prefixes under filtering in a single interface. Real-time data is displayed for each prefix, including when and how it was added to the traffic scrubbing list.

2. More Flexible IP Prefix Management

In the new IPs switched to protection tab, you can:

  • Enable filtering for individual IP prefixes or entire lists,
  • Disable protection for subnets where it’s not required
  • See automatic status updates after changes to detection rules.

Another important update—we’ve added emergency commands:

  • Force protection for all—instantly activate protection for all prefixes,
  • Stop enforcement for all—restore prefixes to their original state after mass filtering.

Use Case

Imagine you receive an email from attackers threatening a DDoS attack. Or you’re launching a major campaign, expecting a surge in traffic, and can’t afford any delays.

You’re confident in your protection but want to take extra precautions. Now, with a single click on Force protection for all, you can instantly apply filtering to every prefix.

A week later, you realize there was no real threat. Previously, you would have had to go through each resource one by one to restore your rules. Now, just click Stop enforcement for all—and your original filtering rules are restored automatically.

3. Easy Detection Rules Monitoring

All active rules are now grouped in the Automatic detection rules tab. Here you can:

  • View all detection rules in one place,
  • Track any changes, including those made at your request by our support team.

Use Case

Suppose we added new detection rules based on your request. In the past, to check what changed, you’d need to browse logs and review your support tickets. Now, simply open the Automatic detection rules tab to see exactly how and when a rule was updated.

We continue to enhance StormWall services to make protection against DDoS and other cyberattacks even more effective and convenient.
